Denis at a glance
Denis Lyons is a lawyer and experienced trainer. He holds degrees in Philosophy (National University of Ireland) and Law (University of Westminster, London), a PGCE from the Institute of Education (University of London) and a Diploma in teaching English to Adults (DELTA).
He was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Grays Inn in 1994. Since then, he has worked as a training consultant writing and teaching courses in English law, language and communication for overseas lawyers in the UK and abroad. His work as a legal trainer has mostly been with overseas commercial and corporate lawyers; both in-house counsel and those in private practice. He has worked as a visiting lecturer at London University.
For training purposes, he specialises in teaching Comparative, Company and Commercial Law as well as communication skills for lawyers such as negotiation, presentation, contract drafting and legal writing. He is also highly experienced in teaching business communication skills and contract law to overseas executives. Many of these courses have been 1:1 intensive programmes tailored to the needs of individual executives covering business topics, business communication and key skills.
His experience as a training consultant spans over twenty years and he has taught at some of Europe's leading International firms (including Freshfields and Allen & Overy), banks (including BNP/Paribas and Deutsche Zentral Bank), consulting firms (including Pricewaterhouse-Coopers and KPMG) and multinational companies (including BAT and Sony). He has also trained in-house counsel working in the oil, gas, leisure and electronic industries as well as numerous business executives working in those areas.
